CLC Strategic Report

The directors present the strategic report for the year ended 31 December 2019.

Fair review of the business

CLC continue to successfully deliver Frameworks with valued customers based on transparency, trust and fair-trading conditions, and by redefining collaboration and working closely together with all Stakeholders. Our ability to provide the optimum turnkey solution to the utility market is underpinned by our solid intelligent data exchange capability and evolving digital transformation. This ultimately ensures we continue to add value whilst reducing non value add elements to the process flow, and offer long term price point resilience and rapid delivery in tough market conditions. Our continued focus on Customer and Circular Economy practices means CLC undertake the works with minimal disruption to the customer and bring long term sustainability to the environment and projects we undertake. Diligent granular financial management of our cost base is complimented by our 25-year experience in Managing our clients’ operational and regulatory risk, whilst maintaining excellent customer delivery and reduced site occupation.

Principal risks and uncertainties

The company aims to minimise financial risk wherever possible. The measures used by the directors to manage this risk include the preparation of profit and cash flow forecasts, regular monitoring of actual performance against these forecasts, and ensuring that adequate sources of finance are in place to meet the requirement of the business.

CLC have developed a Covid-19 strategy in line with our ‘’essential worker’’ status and this is available by visiting our web site at www.clcltd.com. Our principle business of providing repair & maintenance services to the utility sector and the effects of Covid 19 has meant full review of our health and safety policies escalating the priority to put the wellbeing of staff, customers and the general public as a mandatory priority. Our working practices have been robustly adapted to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines and we will continue to support our customers by delivering these essential services throughout the uncertainty posed by this global pandemic.

There is a risk that future changes to the law due to Covid 19 and these cannot currently be predicted with any certainty, this may add to the compliance and cost burden of the operation and may also cause business interruption. Such risks are of course applicable to all companies operating in the sector and the Directors are confident that the company will work closely with its clients and has the necessary skills and resources to enable it to respond quickly and effectively in the event that such a risk were to materialise.

Development and performance

In the current year, CLC continue to focus on securing local workload in London, Essex, and Hertfordshire carrying out full Turnkey service on utility apparatus which includes but is not limited to; repairs and maintenance, replacement, backfill, reinstatement and site clear.

CLC are well positioned geographically and commercially to take full advantage of these contracts given its low price point and strong brand association in the sector.

The directors of CLC will continue to pursue new contracts to advance the company whilst ensuring its core competencies and valued staff are retained.

Environmental and Health & Safety policies

CLC migrated from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001 in Apr 2019 as part of our continuing improvement of UKAS certification. This was achieved with zero non-conformances and ahead of other companies in our market place. The main benefit of the migration enabled us to further integrate Health and Safety with our other management systems (ISO 9001 Quality & ISO 14001 Environmental). These along with our Achilles UVDB and Constructionline certifications demonstrate to customers and clients that CLC operates professionally and compliant (certified by 3rd Party Auditors).

CLC are independently audited by Achilles Verify in regard to the following in house and on-site modules, Health & Safety, Environment, Quality. We are pleased to announce CLC have attained the highest possible score (100%) in each module for two consecutive years.

Health and safety, quality assurance and environmental issues figure prominently at Board level and are regarded as business critical. We continue to develop  good practice, protection of the environment, and the prevention of injury, ill health and dangerous occurrence as a result of the company’s activities. Our policy of mandatory entry level occupational health tests, is one of the most stringent in the sector.

The company has achieved full certification to ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, (Occupational Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental standards) for its management systems to ensure its work is carried out safely to the required quality with minimal disruption, and by protecting the environment.
