CLC- 4am Emergency Response to Water Main Leakage

CLC Utilities responded to an emergency large scale repair of an 20″ trunk water main at 4am which served a large volume of customers in Daggers Lane, Elstree on behalf of Affinity Water. There was major water leakage around the main some metres below the ground in the road and needed urgent action. The CLC expert teams dug a significant 9m x 3m excavation and employed safe working practices including, safe access and egress, sheet piling apparatus as well as specialist pipe cutting, replacement and removal. They also organised and executed best practice, initiating a road closure with full traffic management, diversions and temporary works to ensure the safety of pedestrians and road users.

With critical focus on cost savings, safety and the environment, CLC employed their Circular Economy techniques to reduce costs, improve efficiency and time onsite, as well as minimising the impact on the environment, completing the work at 2300 the same day and restoring critical customer supplies.

The same day CLC were also called to respond to another two emergencies, a further 20″ and 12″ water main leakage and followed the above process to protect the public and road users and restore essential water supplies to customers.

These works by CLC are an excellent example of their complete 24 x 365 Turnkey Solution, where they undertake excavation works, repair, installation and reinstatement from beginning to end and ensure with the deployment of their Customer Liaison Manager, customer contact, communications, updates and any special provisions are actioned.
